On December 18, 2023, the Korean War Foundation, Inc. was formed by the president of the Korean War Veterans Association, Inc. Hawaii Chapter #1 (KWVA) Robert M. Imose because most of the KWVA members are 90+ years old and KWVA will most likely be closing like the other Chapters on the neighbor islands.

The Korean War Foundation, Inc. and Korean And Vietnam War Memorials Foundation, Inc. were formed on December 8, 2023 because we need to properly care for the Korean And Vietnam War Memorials that was dedicated on July 24, 1994 and we need to educate and inform people about the Korean War that ended on July 27, 1953.

The Korean War Foundation, Inc. mission is to preserve the legacy of the Korean War veterans by honoring these heroes and ensuring that their memories endures.

2024 will be the 71st Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice and is also the 30th Anniversary of the Korean And Vietnam War Memorials in Hawaii.  The Korean War Foundation, Inc. is working with community, business and government organizations to tell the story of Hawaii’s Role In The Korean War, U.S.A.’s Role In The Korean War, Importance Of The Korean War and What Has Happened After The Korean War. The Korean War is know as the forgotten war and we must change that. If we do not learn from history we are doomed to repeat history.

2. Hawaii’s Role In The Korean War Oral History Multimedia Interactive Display Board and Exhibitions.

3. Hawaii’s Role In The Korean War Oral History Short Files, Feature Length Films & Documentaries.

4. Hawaii’s Role In The Korean War Oral History Story Books, eBooks & Audiobooks.

5. January 19, 2024, the Korean War Foundation, Inc. applied to the Hawaii State Legislature for a Grant-In-Aid Operating for $444,823.01 for Hawaii’s Role In The Korean War Oral History Project.

6. January 19, 2024, the Korean War Foundation, Inc. applied to the Hawaii State Legislature for a Grant-In-Aid Capital Improvements for $2,000,000.00 to wall & fence the Korean And Vietnam War Memorials in Hawaii.

7. January 24, 2024, S.B. 33367 Relating To Honoring Veterans was introduced in the Hawaii State Legislature for $55,000,000.00 for a War Memorial Hall.

8. January 28, 2024, the Korean War Foundation, Inc. wrote to the Korean Defense Industry Association to join or partner with the Korean War Foundation, Inc. to fund & develop these projects.

9. January 28, 2024, wrote to the Hawaii State Department of Accounting & General Services for the Korean War Foundation, Inc.’s Right Of Entry and Memorandum Of Agreement to maintain and construct improvements for the Korean And Vietnam War Memorials in Hawaii. Attached is a copy of the 1993 Cover Sheet and Site Plan and the 2023 Conceptual Development Site Plan and renderings.

The Korean War Foundation, Inc.’s plan is comprehensive and audacious. All of the parts and pieces of the plan fit nicely together to inform and educate everyone on the Korean War.
